Date Night: Live Music

Whether you’re ballin on a budget or simply ballin, there is live music in pretty much any city every night.

Colin loves anything live-music, and he likes to get there early + watch the whole thing. I like watching the headliner and leaving before the encore. Ha!

Ideas for a live music date night:

  • Local Shows. There is always a band playing a local spot in your town. Hop on yelp or Instagram and search “live music - your town.” Local artists support local artists — this is a fun way to meet people in the music community and learn about upcoming shows + events that might not be blasted all over the internet.

  • Karaoke. Can’t find a band to watch tonight? Go karaoke instead. Probably more entertaining anyways 😉

  • Music festival. They’re expensive, require travel, and are usually 3 days. BUT, if you can lock it in early and have a few month to plan for it, it’s well worth it. Use the planning night as a date night too - curl up on the couch together with a good bottle of wine, laptops, and travel points, and you’re golden. You can also make saving for a big festival weekend a date night too — and involve your friends. So instead of Matsuhisa for your anniversary dinner, make dinner at home that night and toast to having an epic weekend in a couple of months. Instead of going bar hopping with friends, bbq and game night at the house and have people over instead. Make it fun.

  • Concerts. Again, expensive, but a blast. See above. Use Pollstar to search for shows in your area and the surrounding areas.

  • Stream a show. Sort of the same as being in the crowd, shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of sweaty strangers, being bumped and pushed around… except you’re on your couch, with your hunny, in PJs or your favorite band Tee watching it on your big screen. I mean, if you were at the show live, you’re watching the teleprompter anyways because you’re too short to see the stage over the people in front of you… just living eye-level with backs and nipples, giving your calves a workout because you’re on your tip-toes trying to see the stage…. and you didn’t hit up your friends for VIP until the last minute, right?

  • SoFar Sounds: Depending on the city you’re in, SoFarSounds is a cool way to see live music in your town. Check it out!
