September: What’s in season?

This month’s Farmer’s Market Highlights. Get ‘em while they’re hot, and switch up your go-to recipes.

Fun Fact: Did you know that getting 20-30 different plants in your diet every day is absolutely incredible for your gut microbiome? Meaning, the little bacterias that make your gut healthy and feel fantastic — yeah, those things — they LOVE plants. 20-30 per day is the goal.

Here’s what’s in-season this month (and your go-to’s for your grocery list)!

apples

blackberries

bok choy

corn

cucumbers

eggplant

grapes

green beans

figs

herbs

kohlrabi

melons

okra

peas

pears

peppers

strawberries

tomatoes

zucchini

As always, here are some ideas to spice things up in the kitchen and get creative with meals:

  1. Look at what’s in season

  2. Learn some new recipes that call for the in-season fruits + veggies

  3. Make a date out of it with your person. Go to a new farmer’s market. Cook together. Experiment. Find a farm and go harvest something yourself.
