(Jet) Lagging?

Travel Tips, from a guy who has made a living taking laps around the earth. โœˆ๏ธ ๐ŸŒŽ

When I travel to a different country I always want to hit the ground running and feeling fresh, which can be really hard for most people due to jet lag.

A few tips I have picked up along the way to avoid jet lag are:

  • ๐Ÿ˜ด Get your zZzs. If you can, force yourself to go to sleep (or stay awake) to get on the new time zone ahead of your travel or during the flight.

  • ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸธNo boozing. Donโ€™t booze on the plane. In fact, drink WAY more water on the plane, and before your flight, than you think you should. I bring an insulated refillable Yeti water bottle with me on every trip so I donโ€™t use plastic

  • ๐Ÿงฆ Compress. If you tend to get swollen feet or ankles, wear compression socks on the plane. This way, your feet will feel great and ready to run when you land

  • ๐Ÿฅช๐ŸŽ Snackpack. Bring food from home in your carry-on. Airplane food is typically dismal, if they even have any food at all anymore on your flight. Itโ€™s packed with sodium and cancer-causing oils, so bring enough food to cover all the meals during your flights. Most airport food is garbage too.

  • ๐ŸŒŠ ๐ŸŒณ Get out. If you can, get outside as soon as possible when you land. And if itโ€™s safe and available, be barefoot outside, or go for a swim. Seeing the sun, touching the earth, swimming in a body of water all actually affect your circadian rhythm and can greatly help adjust your internal clock to the local time zone. (This topic is a whole article in itself. Also, if you feel that your clock is off in your home time zone, you should also be doing this regularly)

  • ๐ŸšจRed Light Therapy. I bring a portable, mini red and nIR light with me that I use in the mornings and evenings as well for PBM. Itโ€™s small and fits easily in my backpack. In addition to its routine benefits with skin and hair health, it also helps you get your internal clock on the right time.

I hope these tips help you on your next trip, and in life in general. If you have any questions, leave us a comment.

If you have any rad travel tips and hacks that I need to know about, PLEASE send them my way!!
